The laboratory was established with financial support from the European Commission as part of the EU Erasmus+ programme. It is housed in the Department of Animal Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology and Technology. The laboratory is a state-of-the-art research facility designed to support the new "Aquaculture Technology" training programme and enable advanced research activities. It specialises in hydroecology, hydrobiology, hydrochemistry and the selection and breeding of various aquatic organisms. The main outcomes of the project should be 3 new and updated Master's degree programmes in Armenia and Ukraine, teaching and learning materials, upgraded infrastructure and well-trained teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as a network created between universities and the labour market, which will contribute to the training and retraining of needed professionals in Armenia and Ukraine. For this reason, 11 teaching staff from Armenia (Armenian National Agricultural University and National Academy of Sciences of Armenia) and Ukraine (National University of Water and Environmental Engineering) participated in a two-week training course aimed at skills acquisition, development and improvement of educational programs based on current knowledge using modern teaching methods.
