19 Oct Training of the teaching staff at the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (NUWEE)
From 14 to 18 October 2024, a training course on student-centred, interactive and practise-oriented methods and means of learning took place at NUWEE, consisting of 3 online and 2 face-to-face meetings. This interesting training was led by Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor Nataliia Hrytsai, who revealed the essence of the student-centred approach in the process of higher education, described the variety of modern educational methods and tools and characterised the most common innovative learning technologies.
The session began with a detailed analysis of learning technologies for developing critical thinking, project and research methods, portfolio technology, “inverted learning” and others. During the training, participants familiarised themselves with interactive learning methods, in particular the organisation of group lessons, case methods and the use of information and communication technologies. Using the example of her developments, Nataliia Hrytsai demonstrated how to use various digital tools in education to prepare materials and design interactive classes, which was particularly valuable. One of the training blocks was dedicated to game forms of learning in higher education. The participants, who are teachers from the different departments of NUWEE, saw how these methods can stimulate group work, develop leadership skills and increase student motivation.
The last day of the training ended with a festive ceremony. The rector of NUWEE presented certificates of successful completion of the training to all participants and emphasised the importance of introducing modern educational methods for the new generation of professionals. A total of 25 teachers and one doctoral student from NUWEE were trained.
