On the agenda of the meeting is the preparation and elaboration of the midterm report summarising the 1.5 years of project activities. The main outcomes of the project should be 3 new and updated Master's degree programmes in Armenia and Ukraine, teaching and learning materials, upgraded infrastructure and well-trained teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as a network created between universities and the labour market, which will contribute to the training and retraining of needed professionals in Armenia and Ukraine. For this reason, 11 teaching staff from Armenia (Armenian National Agricultural University and National Academy of Sciences of Armenia) and Ukraine (National University of Water and Environmental Engineering) participated in a two-week training course aimed at skills acquisition, development and improvement of educational programs based on current knowledge using modern teaching methods. The aim of the training programme is to support the lecturers in the development of modules and to prepare them to give lectures on these topics in the future. To this end, UNIDU has developed a two-week programme (26 February to 8 March) that includes general activities for all participants as well as face-to-face meetings and discussions. The face-to-face meeting will take place with a professor or researcher specialised in this field, who can support the Armenian and Ukrainian partners both in the preparation of the module and in its implementation. The training was planned by the representatives of the U.Porto, Professors Augusto Faustino, Paulo Vaz-Pires and José Fernando Gonçalves, from ICBAS - Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, where the training sessions took place, and included technical visits to various entities related to aquaculture and fisheries: the Sealife Porto aquarium, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) of the U.Porto, the company Docapesca Portos e Lotas SA, canning factory Pinhais, the flatfish aquaculture facility Flatlantic in Mira and the Litoral Station of Aguda – ELA, in Gaia.
