29 May AFISHE Project Laboratory Establishment
On May 29, the official opening of the laboratory classroom was held at the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, which was jointly built by International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, Armenian National Agrarian University and the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology. This laboratory was established to create an academic environment and is equipped with modern equipment. It will serve as a teaching and research platform for the training of specialists and experienced managers in the field of aquaculture and fish management.
The Director of the International Scientific-Educational Centre of NAS RA, Armen Sargsyan, congratulated the colleagues and participants of the event and emphasised that the establishment of the laboratory is one of the tangible results of the AFISHE project, which will enable us to have a lasting positive impact on the development of fish farming and aquaculture in our country by equipping the sector with such highly qualified specialists who will be able to work with the latest technologies, methods and techniques.
Sargis Aghayan, Director of the Scientific Centre of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, congratulated the participants on the launch of the laboratory: “This is the best example of the scientific organisation and universities effectively combining their efforts to promote research-based education. Based on the expertise and existing research experience of the Scientific Centre of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, we are ready to provide all the necessary conditions and technical resources for the effective implementation of the Master’s Degree Programme in Aquaculture and Fish Farming. The equipment acquired as part of the project will be used to conduct hydroecological, hydrochemical and hydrophysical research.
Garegin Hambardzumyan, ANAU project coordinator, emphasised in his welcoming speech. “We are thrilled that our idea, which was born two years ago, is now completely realistic and has been brought to life. This classroom laboratory created under the project will serve as a research platform for both the Master’s training programme and for conducting valuable and significant research in the field of fish farming.
