Training programme at UNIDU

The regular action phase planned within the AFISHE project is a two-week training programme for teachers from Ukraine and Armenia who need to prepare new or further developed modules on aquaculture and fisheries. The aim of the training programme is to support the lecturers in the development of modules and to prepare them to give lectures on these topics in the future. To this end, UNIDU has developed a two-week programme (26 February to 8 March) that includes general activities for all participants as well as face-to-face meetings and discussions. The face-to-face meeting will take place with a professor or researcher specialised in this field, who can support the Armenian and Ukrainian partners both in the preparation of the module and in its implementation.

The training was organised in 15 different modules: Biology of Cultured Algae, Breeding Technologies in Mariculture, Diversification of Fish Farming, Diversification of Shelfish Farming, Entrepreneurship in fishery and aquaculture, Entrepreneurship in Mariculture, Food safety of aquatic animals, Fisheries Technology and Evaluation of Fisheries Resources, General Ichthyology, Ichthyopathology, Introduction to Ecology, New Technologies in Mariculture, Organization of business and financial activities of fishery enterprises, Prevention and treatment of fish diseases and World fisheries. Protection and reproduction of hydrobiological resources.

A tour of all the university buildings was organised, as well as a meeting with the vice-rectors to discuss future cooperation between the universities. A visit was also made to the Laboratory of Mariculture (Bistrina), which is part of the Department of Applied Ecology.
