Guest lectures within the AFISHE project

As part of the expansion of the network within the AFISHE project, guest lectures were organised to promote cooperation between the universities. On 25 April 2025, a guest lecture was held for the Ukrainian partners, in particular at NUWEE, with Assoc. Prof. Gayane Marmaryan, PhD, from the Department of Biosciences and General Chemistry at the Armenian National Agrarian University. Assoc. Prof. Marmaryan, who is also involved in the AFISHE project as an expert and researcher, provided valuable insights into the best practises in the field during the lecture and discussion. The event was attended by 40 teachers and students from NUWEE, Sumy National Agrarian University, Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, Ukrainian National Forestry University and Drohobych State Pedagogical University.

The first lecture, entitled “Conjugated linoleic acid: sources and health benefits”,” provided the audience with comprehensive information on the stereochemical structure, sources and health benefits of conjugated linoleic acid and omega fatty acids. Assoc. Prof. Marmaryan also presented the results of a joint research project on dairy production conducted with scientists from Greece. The participants took an active part in the discussion, asking questions and expressing their appreciation for the lecture.

The second lecture took place on 8 May 2025 on the topic of “Flavor Compounds of Food” Assoc. Prof. Marmaryan introduced the audience to the classification, origin and chemical structure of flavour compounds and emphasised their role in improving the quality of food. She also discussed the biochemical processes involved in food
processing and their impact on flavour formation, focusing on popular beverages such as coffee, tea and cocoa.

The lecture was attended by 35 participants, including lecturers and students from NUWEE, Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University and Drohobych State Pedagogical University. Both lectures emphasised the importance of cooperation and knowledge sharing within the AFISHE project
