National University of Water and Environmental Engineering

National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (NUWEE) was founded in 1915 as Kyiv Agricultural Hydrotechnical School and then served as a structural unit of a technical school, institute, etc. In 1959, the Kyiv Institute of Water Management Engineers was transferred to Rivne. Since then, the university has been located in the city of Rivne, in the North-West of Ukraine.

For more than 100 years University creates a thriving environment for students and researchers and provides professional expertise and services to the Government and private companies. Today University is one of the prominent modern educational establishments of Ukraine that became Alma mater for more than 60,000 alumni.

The University is a legal entity of public law, founded on a state form of ownership, and performs its activities on a non-profit basis.

The University’s strategic goals:

  • to strengthen the role of the University in society;
  • to achieve the highest world standards and to globalize scientific researches;
  • to ensure high quality of the educational process;
  • to deepen the University integration into global educational and scientific space;
  • to create modern social, information, and communication infrastructure.

Today the University has 51 bachelors’ programs, 58 masters’ programs, Ph.D. programs in 10 scientific specialties, DS programs in 5 scientific specialties, more than 7 000 students, 600 academic staff, 9 research and educational institutes (Water and Environmental Engineering; Building and Architecture; Mechanics; Automatics, Cybernetics, and Computer Engineering; Agroecology and Land Management; Economics and Management; Law; Health Protection, Extramural, and Distance education).

The University carries out international activities in the framework of 124 cooperation agreements with foreign institutions.

NUWEE have excellent experience in international programs participating during last years as executor and grant holder in more than 20 projects, funded by Erasmus+ programme, DAAD, Eurasia Programme (Diku), Visegrad Fund, and other.

The implementation of the AFISHE project in NUWEE is ensured by the interdisciplinary team of the Scientific and Educational Institute of Agroecology and Land Management, in particular the Department of Water Bioresourses. High-experienced teachers work at the department, of which 4 are doctors of science, professors, and 3 are candidates of science, associate professors.
